A known community organization is opening a new resource center in downtown Butler for all veterans.

Robin’s Home provides transitional housing for homeless veterans and their children. But recently they announced they will be opening a resource center for all veterans and active military members.

The goal for opening the center is to connect veterans with the resources that are available.

“We know that a lot of veterans don’t know of the resources available through the VA or in the community. Sometimes they may go to an organization that they don’t meet the criteria for services, and then they get frustrated. And eventually they fall through the cracks,” Robin’s Home founder Mary Chitwood said.

The opening of Veterans H.E.A.R.T Resource Center at 357 North Main Street, the former WISR studio, in Butler will take place Friday at 10 a.m.. Regular hours are weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

H.E.A.R.T stands for Housing, Empowerment, Assistance, Resources, and Training. All current and former military members can take advantage of a range of services including education, a computer lab, assistance with benefits and claims, and access to clothing, hygiene items, and non-perishable food.
