We are honored to introduce Garry as our Hero of the Month! Garry served in the United States Army on active duty from 1983 to 1986, and one of his proudest moments was earning his EIB designation and receiving the Army Commendation Medal.

Garry first heard about Robin’s Home when he was experiencing homelessness. A fellow veteran referred him to the HEART Resource Center for help. To Garry, being part of Robin’s Home means “giving back to other veterans, and it is a true reward being here.”
One of Garry’s favorite memories at Robin’s Home is seeing how the community comes together for veterans during the holidays. “My favorite memory was how the community came together at Christmas time and had the Christmas party for veterans. I love how the community comes together to help the veterans in Butler County.”
Garry is passionate about supporting fellow veterans because “veterans have helped me, and I need to pass it along to other veterans.” He believes more people should understand that help is available: “They should understand that there is help out there. I think a lot of veterans in bad situations have too much pride to ask for help or they don’t know help is out there.”
When asked what advice he would give to other veterans, Garry keeps it simple: “Just get involved.”
Outside of Robin’s Home, Garry enjoys going for walks, working out, and spending time with his grandchildren.
